So, about a week or so ago, Ryan and I had a friend of ours over along with his date. We will call this friend "Jason." It was around Halloween and we were waiting on some other friends to meet up with us and we were going to go to a Haunted House. Well, Jason had brought in his laptop. So, while we were waiting we decided to play a little game of "Name That Tune" with each others iTunes. Before I go any further I need to give some background: Although he has changed his mind, Jason was considering going into the music business and maybe into the producing aspect of the industry. He is a pretty good musician and that is where his main interests used to lie. With that being said we started the game off. Jason and his date went first, and I don't remember all of the specifics but I'm pretty sure they began with some rap song, that after about half of a minute Ryan was able to identify. Next it was our turn. I think we also played a rap song that was just a little bit older, the other team identified it as well. After a few rounds like this we decided to step it up a little. Jason and his date played, it seemed like, the same song by the same "punk" band every single time. Ryan and I tried to create some variety by playing Michael Jackson, Snoop Dogg, Ben Harper and some others. Then, Ryan and I thought we would reminisce.....We played "Mr. Roboto" by.....anyone, anyone....STYX! I'm sure many of you reading this knew that. Well, Jason and his date didn't know that, and Jason made comments like, "Who is that?"..."Oh, whatever." Ryan and I were appalled! Styx is a legendary band! After Jason played another punk song, we thought we'd give them a break. So we played "Hotel California" by....that's right, The EAGLES!!! They didn't know who that was either. Well after the evening was over, I was a little bit less than irate. I'm pretty sure I talked Ryan's ear off with things like, "It's a good thing he's not going into the music industry anymore because with a knowledge like that he would get laughed at," and, "I can't believe he didn't know who Styx or The Eagles are, he only listens to punk and rap, AUGHHH!!!" and so on and so forth. I know I might be a little too concerned about this, but I almost feel like Jack Black's character in "School of Rock." And especially if someone is going to say that they know a lot about music, then maybe they should really know a lot about music.

I identify with you even though I find this post quite hysterical. Perhaps it's just my vision of you being irate. :)
